Founded in 1902 by John Dettra, the company spent nearly a century producing flags, banners, and other patriotic symbols that proudly waved across the nation.

John Dettra’s entrepreneurial spirit fueled the creation of the company. Initially, the focus was on manufacturing flags for local communities and organizations. As the business grew, its reputation for quality and craftsmanship expanded, leading to an increase in demand.

While the American flag was undoubtedly their most iconic product, Dettra Flag Company offered a diverse range of products. In 1998, Dettra Flag Company, after serving the nation for 96 years, was acquired by Annin & Company, the oldest and largest flag company in the United States. Today, remnants of the Dettra Flag Company’s legacy can be found in museums and historical societies. Vintage Dettra flags, carefully preserved, offer a tangible connection to the company’s impact and craftsmanship. The Historical Society of Montgomery County, PA, for instance, displays Dettra-made flag holders, a testament to the company’s diverse product range. The original building for Dettra Flag company now houses Spacemall Storage. The shipping area has been converted to car storage and one of the newer buildings houses RevSpring, on the corner of Station Avenue and Montgomery Avenue.
